About the Image(s)

I liked the way this image from San Francisco turned out, first because of the way the fog on the back building gives some 3D, or depth to the image, and the way the train cables cross just to the right of the buildings. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I think I set up just right for this shot. What do you think? No processing.

The fog definitely draws you in to the photo. And yes, composition is great. Where the overhead cables are in the photo enhance the image. Had you been standing somewhere else, that might not have been the case.   Posted: 07/03/2024 21:27:07

Hi Jack - nice image - the fog is like nature's linear gradient. Works well! Regarding the cables - I personally find them a bit distracting (I tend to prefer clean shots like this). I'm a bit bothered by the fact that they overlap the top of the church (one of the more important parts of the frame). If I was shooting this in the future - might leave the cables in - but try to move to a spot where they frame (but don't overlap) the top of the church. I can see that others may find the current location another layer of depth/interest that improve the picture.   Posted: 07/07/2024 07:50:06
