I was thinking it needed a closer crop because he looks lost in this, but after reading Sue's comments, I think you did this purposely, and it works. In particular the collection plate, having so much space around it, makes it look small, adds to the story of the hard-up street musician. Posted: 08/04/2026 23:04:04

Nice image! Definitely tells a story. I think a tighter crop might make for a stronger image (example attached; perhaps this is too tight). Also the image you presented is an unconventional crop (non-standard); some people find that distracting. The musicians clothes, accordion, collection pan - create the narrative. The red shirt creates the perfect backdrop for the B&W accordion. Posted: 08/04/2026 23:34:20

That's a really interesting idea, but I'd like to offer a different perspective. I'd prefer to show the column on the left with its design in full since it shows Rome's artwork on it, not a plain structural pillar! The diagonal tile on the foreground also leads the viewer's eyes from left corner passing through the collection pan to the accordionist. Hope that you understand my point of view.
