Dehang Grand Canyon by Kieu-Hanh Vu

December 2025 - Dehang Grand Canyon

About the Image(s)

This image was taken at Dehang Grand Canyon in Hunan China last August. It is a scenic area where the Aizhai extra large suspension bridge can be seen across the 2 tunnels. I captured it through the tour bus window to get a higher angle of its natural scenery. All comments are highly appreciated.

Great image - I would have never guessed it was taken through a bus window. That bridge is impressive/scary. I really feel the expanse of the scene. The blue/green color palette is pleasing/soothing. The foreground lake guides the viewer into the image. The clouds also lead me to the mountaintop. I'm guessing you took this with the wide angle lens; I sense some barrel distortion. Could be part of your intent.   Posted: 12/06/2025 10:52:16

Thanks for your comments, Steven! Yes, I think that I took it with .5 from my iphone (which is wide angle) for this landscape photo.   Posted: 12/15/2025 13:33:42

To Steven't point, did you use a special wide angle lens for this? Or just the phone camera as is? I recall you have shown other wide angle shots as well, the effect is really nice in this one as well. The bridge just makes it feel even wider. Was the bus in motion or stopped? I think the only negative from the bus is the slight greenish tint from the windows perhaps. I really like it and the way the road leads off into the distance on the right.   Posted: 12/09/2025 23:09:36

Thank you for your detailed feedback, Jack! The Aizhai bridge is a massive suspension bridge and one of the world's highest and longest tunnel-to-tunnel bridges in Hunan, China. The iphone is very handy to me to capture the scenery via the bus window because the entire bridge cannot be seen when I came closer. I used .5x option from my iphone, no special lens attached. The bus was in motion but slowed down for a L turn. Thanks for pointing out a bit of reflection (greenish tint)of the window that I did not notice.   Posted: 12/15/2025 13:55:28
