Kieu-Hanh Vu
About the Image(s)
This image was taken in an old town in Hunan, China last August. The umbrellas were hung on the area that it would be for the wedding ceremony. Chinese people like the color red because they believe it symbolizes luck, joy, and happiness. There is one blue umbrella among these, and I don’t know why? Did they want to break monotonous patterns? Minor enhancements for the image using Snapseed.

It's beautiful and whimsical, Kieu-Hanh. I like that there's no start or finish to the umbrellas, nor does the scene behind them distract. Umbrellas make natural repeating circles, which are very pleasing, and these have great color and patterns within, as well.   Posted: 11/01/2025 20:08:38
Thank you for your kind words, Jack! I'm thrilled to be part of the group.   Posted: 11/03/2025 08:01:38
What a happy/playful image. Agree with everything Jack said. I have no suggestions for improvement. One question - looks like sky in the upper background? And some trees/greenery on the bottom? Are the umbrellas directly overhead - and is this due tot he angle of your view?   Posted: 11/02/2025 10:49:32
I appreciate your kind comments,Steven!
You're very observant! Yes, the umbrellas were hung directly overhead. I took a few pictures of the umbrellas and I like this one more to show different sizes of the umbrellas and to show the sky as well as the trees peek between the gap spaces.   Posted: 11/03/2025 08:37:56

Makes sense. It also conveys depth. Well done.   Posted: 11/05/2025 23:06:53
