About the Image(s)

These ruins are in Thailand, just outside of Bangkok. I don’t recall the historical sigh, but I liked how they set up from this vantage point, the way they kind of fit under the tree.

Interesting scene - seems like there were many opportunities to move around to vary the alignment of the structures. The greenery helps frame the subject. The tourists in modern clothes (esp the blue and red) detract from the scene; depending on intended use - you could choose to remove them. What are the structure made of? The focus looks a little soft on my monitor; perhaps due to the low resolution of the posted image. What do you think?   Posted: 04/08/2025 08:31:46

Good points, Steven. Alas, people are ever present at the beautiful places around the world it seems. The ruins are made mostly of brick. I wish psa would increase the resolution max for these groups, as my high resolution monitor renders many images soft was well...   Posted: 04/08/2025 16:00:07

I've wondered about this - my understanding is that PSA doesn't limit pixel dimensions - rather it limits file size. I appreciate that two are correlated. When I download you image, import into LR, and view at 100% (where one pixel on my screen corresponds to one pixel in your image) - the structure in the foreground doesn't appear sharp. I don't think it's a file size/resolution issue. Might be what the phone actually focused on? Or some dirt on the lens? Or something else? In my experience - it's not an inherent limitation of the iPhone camera (sometimes it's great!).   Posted: 04/13/2025 09:09:48

Hi Jack,
You have found the best angle to capture this image! It is very well thought, with the 5 structures aligned from small to bigger ones. The 4th ruin from the left has a bit different design with a rounder top and the entrance stairs, sided by 2 other structures. The presence of light visitors in the scene do not bother me (because it's hard to avoid that nowadays!), and they can be used as a sense of scale to your image. Well done!   Posted: 04/09/2025 13:51:40

This is a very cool photo. I love the different shapes and the line they collectively create. I agree with Kieu-Hanh with regard to the tourists. They perfectly show the scale of the structures. I'm also a big fan of framing with trees whenever possible.   Posted: 04/12/2025 01:30:21

Jack, the old ruins would look better without the people because buildings are old and better to enjoy their beauty. Good composition.   Posted: 04/13/2025 21:27:39
