About the Image(s)
This was shot at a local lake.I was observing a group of ducks and this colorful kayak emerged from the reeds.
I had to crop out the back of the kayak because there were distracting, bright pilings in the background. I was attracted by the complementary colors of blue and orange , reflections, and the streams of water coming off the paddle. Does the composition work? It had to be cropped fairly tightly for reasons above. I think the focus would be on the kayak and kayaker(not the entirety of the vessel ?

I really like this image - the orange/blue add a great splash of color and really make the photograph pop. I love that you were careful to capture the top of the kayaker - AND the bottom of the reflection. I regret that the rear of the kayak is cropped out; that hurts the image. Can you post the original (higher resolution) - I'd like to play with the bright pilings. Although the kayak/person are not tack sharp - that doesn't bother me - since they're moving. In some sense - it creates additional interest. Well done!   Posted: 02/10/2025 12:44:56
Hi Wayne,
Nice composition! The crop is good because I don't feel that it was truncated, and there is a space in front of the kayak for the kayaker to move into. The water reflection with some water movement makes the scene more dynamic. The blue and the orange colors work well with the dark background.
I'd prefer that the kayaker's face is a bit sharper. Well done!   Posted: 02/15/2025 12:59:09
