About the Image(s)

I visited the Douro Valley in October - Portugal's wine country - built along the shore of the Douro River (historically, the primary means of transporting wine/Port to other parts of Portugal and the world). The winery is close to the river - with vines planted around it. Visible are mature vines (foreground and left) - as well as new construction of large terraces/tiers (not yet planted) on the right - spacing optimized to improve harvest efficiency.
