Shot this relative close-up of a harbor seal that was seen in a river in rainy Ketchikan,Alaska. I know the image is not sharp but I liked the composition and the impressionistic feel of the image and textures around the seal . The expression and striking whiskers reminded me of a cartoon character.

Hi Wayne - I like the composition and details (esp the whiskers!). As you state - it's not sharp and that limits my interest. I like sharp images (at least the main subject). I appreciate that others may prefer a softer/more artistic rendition One suggestion might be to play with a B&W version of this; since color doesn't contribute much to the image. I think the other comments are good; you've got a fun composition, and a good way to get beyond the lack of sharpness would be to go even further, by using an app to make it cartoon-looking, or something like that, if that were of interest to you. Posted: 11/16/2024 17:44:48
