Sydney Opera House by Phillipa Frederiksen, EFIAP MAPS SSAPS

October 2020 - Sydney Opera House

About the Image(s)

I took this photo from the Manly Ferry. In Superimpose I added another layer of the Opera House then used the zoom tool several times. I erased a little of the top layer so that I had a small sharp area.

Very creative and intriguing image! It becomes an abstract image and it draws all my attention to it. Well done!   Posted: 10/05/2020 15:36:03

Thanks Kieu-Hanh!   Posted: 10/05/2020 17:12:42

I love your creativity, especially with the Opera House! I can imagine so many things when looking at this. It lends itself nicely to the abstract and at first glance could be wings, but of what? Looking more closely, you see the sharp angles of buildings (surreal mountains to me Lol) contrasted to the overall softness. A wonderfully curious piece of art!   Posted: 10/07/2020 14:36:38

Well, there is much to see in this image; a close up of a sea gulls' wings, a sand storm on the beach and crashing waves on the beach... You do so much with your originals. Nice picture.   Posted: 10/08/2020 10:15:12

I love the selective softness in ares of this image. It definitely leads me into the realm of imagination!   Posted: 10/09/2020 09:55:18

This captures the spirit of the opera house architecture, but imbues it with a personal interpretation of its structure. Well done.
I think it likely that if you had titled this "Guess What," that at least 90% of the viewers would immediately recognize it. Therefore, again, well done.   Posted: 10/10/2020 21:52:42

Thanks Stephen! I had to smile at the Guess What!   Posted: 10/11/2020 04:05:04

I like to spot similar subjects in the groups. This month, two members have shown the Sydney Opera House:
Ian Cambourne in Group 73.
Phillipa Frederiksen in Group 86.   Posted: 10/15/2020 12:18:48

I like to note similar subject matters in the Groups. This month, folks have done blurred images in several groups:
Freddie Kelvin in Group 5.
Phillipa Frederiksen in Group 86.
Ian Cambourne in Group 76.   Posted: 10/15/2020 14:23:30

I love Freddie's!   Posted: 10/15/2020 16:18:50

This looked like an impressionist take on a sail being lowered - quite surreal. I don't know how you cook these things up in your mind - I'm too disciplined to let myself go like you do. d;¬{D   Posted: 10/16/2020 18:16:10

I had a Deja Vu moment when I saw this and sure enough--I looked at a similar, if not same image on our site back in March. So, I liked what you did to it then, and now still, Phillipa.   Posted: 10/17/2020 11:52:16

Oh! That's terrible! Sometimes I forget what I have put up...though I AM trying to keep better records now!!!!   Posted: 10/17/2020 20:32:52

Phillipa, were you standing in the same spot as me, but just at a different time ???   Posted: 10/22/2020 03:19:45

Ian I THINK this was taken from the Ferry....but not absolutely sure....could have been near the Harbour Bridge!   Posted: 10/22/2020 03:24:22
