About the Image(s)
For this month I decided to work on an old photo. The photo is of a wildflower in wisconsin. I took the photo using an iphone 6s. For this photo I mainly worked on color. I decided to try and mute the colors of the background and try and draw out the blues of the flower. Beyond that I also used a tighter crop.

Jacob good job on subduing the background and cropping in for a tighter focus on the flower. If you darken the background just a bit including the stem of the flower it may pop that flower even more. Juicing up the colour of the petals works. I wonder if you brought back the natural glow at the center of the flower (as per the original ) if that would give it a kick. Great job.   Posted: 05/16/2023 08:10:08
Jacob, I agree with Kathryn that you did a good job of dropping the background tones in your image. Try Lightroom or Ps selecting image or try selecting background (check to make sure the selection is complete) and drop the exposure. You will be amazed how this process helps your flower pop.   Posted: 05/16/2023 08:25:57
Jacob, beautiful flower, you really did a good job of blurring the muting the background and bring out the colors. iPhones are a wonderful tool for flower photography. When you shoot do you use lock-on focus on the phone camera? It works wonderfully, especially if you want sharp focus on the center of the blossom. Nice job!   Posted: 05/18/2023 10:39:09
Hi Jacob,
Greetings my friend..
A nice work on the wild flower. The blurry background, muted colors and the tighter crops really make the subject fairly stands out. Loved your work and thanks for sharing.
Stay safe as always.
Cheers.

Hi Jacob, do agree with the comments so far. You've done a brilliant job on making the flower stand out from and the brown tone of the background complements the blue flower very well.   Posted: 05/20/2023 05:41:09
The flower is quite nice. I think the background is less successful. Did you try pulling down the greens in the original? Darkening the background much more? I think preserving some green would be better.   Posted: 05/20/2023 12:00:06
