This image was taken while on a weekend away with a camera club, at a location about a 2 hour drive from Sydney. It's in a national park with easily accessible walking trails. Obviously, this image was taken from the top of the waterfall, looking down it's height. Waterfalls and flowing water are one of my favourite subjects to capture, playing with shutter speeds to capture different amounts of water movement. I also like the colours in the water just as it goes over the edge. I presume these are from plants. I have included another image of the same waterfall, taken from a different location, as the original image. If you look to the upper left of that one, you will see a viewing platform, where the main image was taken from.
Details are: SonyA850; Sigma 20mm; ISO 100; F19; 1/3 second & tripod mounted.

What a wonderful view. A little dizzying and at the same time the eye keeps circling the image. That this is shot at F19 makes the whole image with the river in the upper right so sharp.
Very nicely done.   Posted: 05/10/2023 10:17:19

Thanks for your comments Barbara, I did want to keep that part of the water in the top right to show where the falls went to. I'm thinking about going back there in the not too distant future and reshooting it, but stitching a couple of images together to show more of this view.   Posted: 05/21/2023 03:20:26

I'm pretty sure I could not have taken that image without getting very nervous! I love waterfalls and playing with making it smooth and silky (as you well know ) so you had me at GO! But I always do them from below :-)! What a remarkable place and from the second image, it appears it is quite a popular place.
I'm not sure I would have ever considered taking the image from the top looking down, but it works nicely and really does give a great deal of depth and a unique perspective.

Thank you for your comments Sherry. It's always fun to get away for a weekend with photographic friends. We all share a common passion and often take very similar images but from different viewpoints with different points of interest. Bouncing ideas off each other is always good, particularly over a glass of wine.   Posted: 05/21/2023 03:24:06
