Sring Flowers by Bruce Benson

May 2023 - Sring Flowers

About the Image(s)

April and May are when the beautiful flowers bloom in the Skagit valley in NW Washington state. They are very late this year due to cooler temperatures ..This area is famous in spring for flowers especially tulips.

Bruce, very nice image of a field of Tulips. The only place I have seen so many tulips together was in Amsterdam-Holland during the season (April-May the same). The image is very sharp front to back (focus stacking ?) and the colors are very bright. Your POV is low enough to give additional DOF to the image. Nicely arranged by colors. I added some light to the shadows to bring out more color.

Thanks Isaac, I just purchased a new computer and did not realize the brightness but seeing you changes it is much better. Bruce   Posted: 05/12/2023 17:47:02

Only for the group to get an idea as how the tulip fields look from the air (small airplane).   Posted: 05/04/2023 16:38:14

Bruce, this is beautiful field of tulips. Like Isaac, I haven't seen this may tulips together in a field since I was in Holland. The colors are vibrant, the image is sharp with nice leading lines to the sky. Nice landscape photo.   Posted: 05/10/2023 10:50:33

Thanks Barbara, The Skagit Valley in Northern Washington is a wonderful area for both flowers in the spring, but also wildlife in the winter including swans, eagles, snow geese, even owls. Bruce   Posted: 05/12/2023 17:49:16

Hi Bruce this is a beautiful image of a tulip field. I love the painterly effect the the image has, the leading lines and the strangeness colours guide us to the end of the image that is pin sharp all the way. I was playing with the image a little filling the right area and cropping in a square format. I have also introduce a little of blur in the line of the horizon to create deep, darken a little the up part of the sky and lighten the line of the horizon   Posted: 05/12/2023 06:16:43

Thank you Maria, I like your crop , it eliminates some of the buildings in the background and focuses more on the flowers. Bruce   Posted: 05/12/2023 17:50:43

Bruce, Wow! What a gorgeous sight! I have never seen so many tulips and your image is striking. I do like the edits made by Isaac and Maria, which really enhance your already lovely image.   Posted: 05/13/2023 11:18:44

What a great sight Bruce and you did well to get so much in focus. It is very interesting how the square crop leads the eye forward so much better - less is more! I wouldn't have thought of that. I didn't know there was tulips grown in that area.   Posted: 05/25/2023 16:19:38
