About the Image(s)
Here is just one of a dozen or more photos that I took of this year's poppy show.... This mass of poppies was found in the foothills of eastern Madera Co. CA.

Beautiful poppies! With all the rain California got this spring, the poppies must be abundant. I've heard about the poppy fields in Madera County, but never been there...one day, perhaps. Although your image shows a mass of poppies, I wish it showed more - a whole lot more. As is, there is no single poppy that stands out, nor is the number of poppies very impressive. The closest poppy has torn petals and probably should not have been the focus of the image.   Posted: 05/02/2023 05:42:15
For another one of my poppies go to group 23, where I also show a mass of them.   Posted: 05/02/2023 09:42:52

Your poppy image in Group 23 is great! It certainly gives the sense that there is a sea of poppies!   Posted: 05/02/2023 10:52:18

Shirley, what a fun shoot. I bet there was a better section to shoot as you show here, getting some more interesting flowers.
When this close, shooting at a lower angle adds drama and more separation for your subject flower. It seems a bit flat, and maybe more contrast would get it to pop. The yellow is well handled.   Posted: 05/04/2023 17:22:49

Shirley, I wish I was there taking these beautiful flowers. To me a camera can't always capture the way your eyes sees beautiful sites. I agree with Randall and David.   Posted: 05/06/2023 21:18:10

Hi Shirley. The poppies were certainly amazing in California this year, and this image is proof. I also agree with Randall and David, but feel that your image does capture the nature and beauty of a poppy field, which is not always perfect.   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:01:39

Beautiful poppies! I rather agree with David about the "less than perfect" poppy in the front although I guess that's nature. Maybe a step to the right and capture that other pretty one in the front?   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:34:47
Actually I think the "imperfect" poppy tells a story too, and it breaks the line of perfect blossoms....   Posted: 05/15/2023 10:19:13
