About the Image(s)
While practicing my focus-bracketing technique at a local public garden, I found this Celandine poppy bud covered with dew drops and early morning mist. I shot this image with 45 stacked images and used Helicon Focus to process the stacked images. When I looked closely on my computer screen, I found that I failed to get the large water drop in focus. However, I noticed a group of smaller dew drops that formed an interesting composition. So, I cropped the image a lot and used Topaz's Gigapixel to add more pixels back into the image. I like the abstract nature of this macro image better than the original poppy-with-dew-drops image. Shot with a Canon R5 and 100mm macro lens. Exposures were 1/50 sec @f/5.6 and ISO 640.

David, a successful by far this shot. I really like it. I agree with your assessment, both the fuzzy in front and the beautiful water droplets. You got a bonus with the upper one on the left - cool.   Posted: 05/01/2023 11:58:26

Thanks, Randall. It certainly helps to have 45MP to crop with although 100MP would be better! :-)   Posted: 05/01/2023 12:17:43

Very cool. The original is stunning as well but you've really made a showpiece out of it. Great work!   Posted: 05/08/2023 16:17:00

Hi David. this is an amazing composition and capture. Could definitely be award winning, in my opinion. The original was nice, but this crop and processing are exceptional!!! Ingrid   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:04:18

Thank you, Ingrid. Sometimes you never know what you captured until you look at it on the big screen.   Posted: 05/14/2023 18:32:06

I love macro images and this is a "winner"... I don't have the capability of all of the "focus stacking stuff" and never learned how to do it... All of my photography is now done on a very good point and shoot camera. Then, if needs be, I will adjust, remove, crop, darken, etc. in photoshop.... At my age (90) it's all I can do to snap the shutter on a subject, let alone do all of the fancy adjustments... hee, hee..   Posted: 05/14/2023 16:22:47

Thank you, Shirley! Oh, my...I only wish I could be as tech savvy as you when I get there in 17 years.   Posted: 05/14/2023 18:34:30
