About the Image(s)
As you can see, the Dahlia was part of a bouquet of flowers. I masked it in Lightroom, inversed the mask and then darkened the background by dropping the exposure and contrast all the way down as far as it would go.
If you haven't tried masking in Lightroom, I recommend giving it a try.

Marti, you rendered this beautifully. Good choice of where the center of the flower is, in upper right. I love the folds of the petals. A couple of green backgrounds are showing on the left that were not masked out. Not sure of the purple on top but it has a nice appeal.   Posted: 05/01/2023 11:51:53

Marti, What a beautiful image of this Dahlia. Love the black background and the color of this flower. Beautiful contrast. Love the depth of this flower. I gave the flower just a little more room. I cleaned up the blue color that came out on the top of the petal a the top and cleaned up the petal that had some spots. Great job Marti.   Posted: 05/06/2023 21:03:36

Hi Marti. I love this dahlia and the way you have lifted it from a distracting background. I agree that giving it a bit more space is helpful, but I actually like the purple tips. You have done a great job with the focus! Ingrid   Posted: 05/14/2023 15:55:58
Great photo.... However, I would have liked to have seen a stem as the blossom seems to be "floating in space". Not to say that this is bad or anything, just another version...
