About the Image(s)
As with most of my images I don't have an idea at first. After this image came together it spoke to the complex feelings as I see my daughters heading off into their lives after they left the home for college. This is a simple two layer blend but took time, as always, finding the right images to combine.

Brad, Your image shows good pre-visualisation and clearly you had a good idea in your mind's eye at the outset. I particularly like the way that you have blended the seascape seamlessly into the forest; this has been done very well. There is good compositional strength to the image with your daughters walking into the scene and the fallen logs leading the eye from the lower left-hand corner into the land/seascape. I also like the feeling of reality to the composite and the way that the water can be seen as flowing both downhill and uphill, very much like the flip-flop of a Necker Cube. Well done.   Posted: 05/04/2023 04:32:43
Brian, As always, thanks for your thoughtful image evaluation.   Posted: 05/12/2023 20:42:41
The blend is done quite well, creative! good choice of images
Some things I can think to improve is to make the light and shadows more realistic (you have two suns)
-- you have two suns, the shadows and sun indicate sun from the back of the girls, then the sun is in the front
-- to make more of the images warmer, the foreground is warm, the middle is vool, and then it goes warm again.   Posted: 05/19/2023 13:47:57

I love the sense of mystery as the girls go forward as if they are exploring. I agree with Lisa about the suns and the shadows. It is always a challenge to match these in Composites.   Posted: 05/20/2023 03:13:50
Brad, Lisa and Hazel make a good point about the two suns and competing shadows. One option might be to remove the sun top left as below. There is a sense here that the two girls are in bright sunshine and there is a cloud casting its overall shadow over the woodland in the mid-ground, through which we can see the sunlight beyond.   Posted: 05/20/2023 03:26:19
Hi Brad,
Excellent blending. I do agree with the comments about the temperature of the two different lighting. You could sample the blue color of the forest and create a solid color layer and use color blending mode to add the blue color to the lower half of the image by using masks.

Brad, nice composting. However, I have some trouble visualizing the journey going from a beach into a forest. But of course, you are working with the images you already have in your computer. How about using your title and see if you can remove the wave.
Also I would remove what is probably an under water breathing tube from their heads which I find distracting.
Well, now I have read the comments of the others, see that they were seeing well beyond me, and agree with their thoughts.
Nice work! Beautiful young women!   Posted: 05/22/2023 15:46:37

Brad, I agree with the previous comments. You can place some light rays coming from the sun and direct those to the two girls so that would make the light on their back more believable. Also in PS you can create an empty layer, use blend mode "soft light", use the colour picker and pick the colour from the sun's rays and paint that inbetween the trees and some on the water. That would blend the image more.   Posted: 05/23/2023 06:24:53
