About the Image(s)

This is the stairwell inside the Smithsonian Museum in Oxford. The original was straightened a bit and cropped so the stair rail started in a corner, and the grating on the right hand side was removed. I thought it worked better in black and white.

I really like the black and white and the leading line of the railing. I find my eye goes to the light wall on the left. I think I would try to crop it. Love all the detail. Keeps my eye moving.   Posted: 05/22/2023 07:17:17

Hmm, Andrew, I like your black and white. But personally I would like to be closer to be able to read the text and see the statue. But I think your intention was to include the setting so your cropping is correct.

Catherine has a good suggestion.

The first thing I noticed was the dark statues arms waving to the many light statues. That really captured the photograph for me. I think Black and White is the only way for this image.   Posted: 05/23/2023 14:12:13

Hi Andrew, I agree that black and white is a good choice for this image. I do like the crop that takes away the bright wall on the left. My version of the crop takes away the plaque at the bottom which I find distracting.   Posted: 05/24/2023 06:37:41
