About the Image(s)
I did warn the Group there may be more from Liverpool Comicon and as predicted may I introduce you to Tank Girl this was also taken early morning with lovely lighting I asked the young lady if she would pose for me in front of a new aluminium panel which acted as a very bright but very light backdrop,I did use a touch of fill flash just to counter the rear brightness,I have sent this lady shots from the shoot and she is delighted with them.

Ian, definitively in the UK there is a cult for this type of events. Now, in this particular example I have some confusion about he messages this girl is giving out: Ask me about my man-baby agenda .... and the biohazard sign just above it ??
Indeed you selected the right spot, and used all your portrait photography knowledge to create this great image. The image is sharp with no distractions. I also do not understand the purpose of all the piercing in her nose and around her mouth. Oh well; modern times.   Posted: 05/05/2023 14:34:43

Hi Isaac
Modern times indeed some Cosplayers want to re create their chosen character as an exact replica some want to create their own take on it, this is the latter the piercings may well be her own style/fashion choice in real life the eyes are most certainly contact lens as favoured by many Cosplayers but she really stood out to me as a different character and was a dream to work with and a lovely young lady to chat with afterwards.
As a warning Isaac just before I went on my holidays I covered a Steam Punk gathering so be warned.   Posted: 05/07/2023 15:14:46

Ian, great subject choice. For me all the piercings, and all of the tattoos, the pieces on the jacket, and the colors of the T-shirt make this a visual candy store! From my experience, I can only suggest two small changes. First remove the vertical rib in the wall just over her left shoulder. Second, I think I would add a vignette to really focus on the center and away from the edges. I'm sure this will do very well in a color PID competition. Keep the images from this outing coming!   Posted: 05/06/2023 17:59:39

Hi Gary

I guess I'm becoming a grumpy old fart. She certainly isn't the girl next door. Okay, let's talk about the image. First there's a lot of detail that makes the viewer's eye wander around this portrait which clearly violates all the rules for model's clothing. I found the color of her eyes penetrating and have captured attention. I took the liberty of isolating the background in the Adobe Camera Raw filter and changing the overall color and adding a vignette. One little nit is the merger of her hand with the edge of the picture. I also added a stroke as a finishing touch.

Hi Bill

Bill's background color change really works and acts as a vignette. As a former hippie (sans tattoos and piercings), I appreciate her sense of expression. Your lighting is good and I can see why she likes this photo. It looks professional.   Posted: 05/10/2023 13:08:15

Another of your excellent portraits Ian. It's a great portayal of this young lady, well lit and very sharp. I am in awe of your ability to arrange your lighting with just the right amount of fill flash. I think Bill's background is too dark and wonder if something between his and yours would be better. The RAF roundel on her T-shirt with the WW2 leather flying helmet and Mk 8 goggles gave me the impression she was posing as an aviator, although she'd get rather cold in that outfit at 10,000 feet! As for the face piercings and tattoos, I will join Bill in the Grumpy Old Farts corner! But, that's the way of life - the old folks never approve of what the young get up to!
Back to the picture, great portrait and well up to your high standard. Keep 'em coming.   Posted: 05/12/2023 05:05:03

Hi Guy
Great info on all the aeronautical accessories she would most certainly be a block of ice ay 10,000 ft she did assure me it was her take on Tank Girl and not Biggles.   Posted: 05/12/2023 15:49:17

Another bold, sharp portrait from the portrait master, offering good color and young folk interest. I beleave the "Man-baby agenda" is about what type of mate to pick and I shall decide to have a child in my life or not.   Posted: 05/17/2023 07:22:33
