About the Image(s)

This was taken in my garden. I like turning patterns into mono to emphasise the shapes, so I increase the contrast to simplify them.

OM Systems OM-1, 1/100 sec, f4.5, ISO 400. Olympus 60mm macro lens. Natural light. A bracket of 7 frames, stepped by the camera. Merged in Helicon Focus, then processed in Affinity 3.

Love the patterns and black and white. In general I like the high contrast. There are a few areas whited out so perhaps you could mask those and then apply the contrast?   Posted: 07/05/2026 15:46:03

Super sharp detail! This is definitely one where black and white works so well for your subject matter. I like the linear composition. The horizontal pieces put me in mind of tic-tac-toe because of their positioning. A very interesting image, almost an abstract.   Posted: 07/05/2026 15:51:01

I like taking closeup pictures of tree bark and root areas and this falls into that type of picture as well. It has a very nice abstract feel and good decision to go b&w with the image. I wonder if going f/16 or so would give the same DoF as the stacking of 7 images. Stacking is a lot more work if the higher f-stop would suffice?? Only suggestion would be to crop in the right side to get rid of the gray area in the upper right.   Posted: 07/06/2026 14:26:24
