Incredible detail! What was your shutter speed please? If possible, I might extend the left edge some to give his head more room. Nice work!   Posted: 07/05/2026 15:38:46

Wow! Crazy-sharp detail! I would like more info about your post-processing…it is on the cusp with sharpness, so did you add sharpening in post? I think it would not have been necessary if you did. The lighting and soft background work well in this, along with the nice tight crop; maybe leave a little bit more room in front of the bees face on the left-hand side, as there's not enough room for the bee to be "looking into.". No clutter to distract, either. There is a highlight line toward the back which can easily be remedied. Great capture!   Posted: 07/05/2026 16:01:06

Great capture! It is not easy to capture a subject like this handheld and get this much detail. I agree with other folks that more space is needed on the left side. I'm starting to pull back on my camera and do more cropping in post processing. With the high pixel count sensors now in cameras I can get more flexibility in post processing if I give myself more image size to play with.

The sharpening is a little over done as well which starts to give an artificial look to the subject.   Posted: 07/07/2026 02:25:25

I'd agree with the others' comments. The wings are amazingly sharp for a single shot at f9. Sharpshooter!   Posted: 07/08/2026 20:31:35
