About the Image(s)
I seem to be in an insect moment. I was mesmerized by the orange and black
color combination when I saw this image. I focused on the body of the ant and
I am ok with the tiger lily being a bit off focus. But I found it very hard to get
the antennae and all of the legs of the carpenter ant in focus. I took the image handheld and forgot
to change to burst mode, which probably could have helped.

Love the colors and angle of the ant. The DOF doesn't bother me.   Posted: 04/08/2026 11:57:48

Very nice, the only comment is that the antennaes could be sharper.   Posted: 04/09/2026 14:50:01

The depth of field doesn't bother me. I generally find that I have to raise the shadows and darker tones in post...it would be great on his little face. You have the back end nicely captured. I also wouldn't worry about the tiger lily--it just looks like part of a nice even orange environmental background and is a nice contrast to your insect. Antennas are hard to capture because they don't stop moving for long. Nice shot.   Posted: 04/09/2026 16:50:41
