About the Image(s)
The Anthurium is such a common flower, but I was practicing with the macro lens and I really liked this image.
I was focusing on the spadix - the yellow spike.
But then I found the red of the flower on the black background interesting as a whole even if not totally sharp.
Shot with CANON R5
100m with Lens EF 100m f/2.8 Macro
1/200 sec at f/5.6 ISO 100 with Tripod
In Lightroom I cropped a bit, applied denise at 50 percent, and adjusted exposure.

Gloria, I always struggle with where to focus on these types of flowers. You did a good job at catching a good focus on a bit of the pedal and the full spandix. Nice cropping too. I might have brought the highlights down a bit. Lovely capture.   Posted: 12/09/2025 19:53:43
Thanks Cheryl, good suggestion.   Posted: 12/17/2025 23:17:28
I think your focus is OK. I do think the highlights are blown out. Next time you might try HDR. Color nice.   Posted: 12/12/2025 00:20:41
Thanks Margaret, I tend not to use HDR so thanks for reminding me of this option.   Posted: 12/17/2025 23:20:26
Yes, I think the focus is fine. The exposure seems to be OK, but you don't mention if the original was RAW or jpg. If not RAW, I encourage you to ALWAYS capture in RAW. At this ISO, you'll get 4 stops (or more), more than jpg. The blown out parts would be easily recovered. I love HDR, but as with all image merging, the subject must be still for it to work. Capturing it in one shot is often best and easiest.
As it stands, the yellow spadix doesn't grab my attention. Lightening it in post should give it more prominence.   Posted: 12/13/2025 21:37:21
