About the Image(s)
I discovered that there is an Orchid Botanical Garden just outside of Florence, OR. This was taken very early in the morning, in heavy morning gloom in a forested area. I did want it to have a black background, but I didn't have a flash with me, which is why I was using the settings I did. If I'd gone any wider on my aperture, I would have gotten even less of the orchid, but if I'd closed my aperture down for more DOF, I wouldn't have enough light for my orchid! Any lower on Shutter Speed and I wouldn't have been able to hold the camera steady enough. And I find it hard to crouch very still for long these days. But I kind of liked the soft effect with just the one area in sharp focus--you all know I love that ethereal soft focus look for flowers. Settings: 10000 ISO, 60mm Macro lens, 1/320 sec. f5.6.
