Snow Glory 2 by Margaret West

May 2025 - Snow Glory 2

About the Image(s)

This is one of the first flowers in our garden every year- a very small white snow glory. I shot it with my Canon 100mm macro lens at f 6.3, ISO 400, 100mm, and 1 second exposure. I used a UV flashlight with the beam directed at the center and then aimed a larger UV flashlight aimed at a white cloth I hung over an upright reflector (just to use it to hang the cloth). I love how the UV makes the center of many flowers glow as if the light were inside. Taken April 11, 2025

Margaret, This image is absolutely stunning! What UV flashlight did you use? Did you have a colored filter on it? What adjustments did you make in post? Thank you for sharing more information. You are an inspiration!

I bought the UV flashlight form Midnight Minerals. I took a class with Don Kamerechki and that was where he recommended getting it as it had something to do with the wavelength ( which I now forget). I bought a smaller one and a larger one. I of course got the safety glasses too. I did a little post processing. Mainly to bring out the glow in the center and I softened the edges of the flower some and there is a little vignette. Thanks for your comments. Glad you like it!   Posted: 05/08/2025 00:47:41
