An impressive tree fungus! The stacking is good to use on this. Love the patterns and colors. It's hard to stack hand held. I think a tripod would have kept it a bit sharper   Posted: 04/04/2025 03:49:19

Pat, great subject matter, details, colors, and fine textures! I know there are things we see in post processing that we don't always see when looking through the view finder. I would have done another focus on the upper left corner and left it in the frame. I like how in the second original the corner of the fungi leads to the left corner of the frame. What kind of tree is that? It really does produce some interesting aspects for photographing. Good job at taking notice!Thank you for sharing your expertise and creativity!   Posted: 04/08/2025 14:32:13

Very good, Pat. To me, for many subjects, the trinity of macro is colours, textures and patterns, and those are here in abundance.

As I often remark, some softness in the right places can improve a macro, so I don't see the softness on the mid left and top right as problems. Had you wanted to get those areas sharp too, I would have guessed that 16 frames at f11 is plenty to cover this scene - maybe your step distance was shorter than necessary. (But much better then too long a step!)

Perhaps a little brighter would have added to the punch?

Pat, I really enjoyed this image. The background is so soft and pleasing, yet it has a subtle mirroring of the same color palette in your subject. Great color and pattern, nice sharp lines. If you wanted to change anything, I would crop a bit off the left side to just where the inside end of the smallest scallop joins the larger one.   Posted: 04/12/2025 20:30:05

Pat, I really like this image. I like when macro images become almost abstract and you have to guess what the subject is. The soft background is very fitting a others commented. The colors and textures are very nice. I would maybe crop a bit the right upper corner.   Posted: 04/19/2025 21:06:11
