I think this is a very nice picture of a Poinsettia. The striking red petals are offset by the yellow centre. It's all nice and sharp by and large, only the bottom left petal is going a bit soft. The phone has done an excellent job technically despite f1.8 - but we are getting used to this happening. I wonder how close it can go? Can you make the centre the dominant part of the picture?   Posted: 03/06/2025 16:35:38
I will give it a try and send it to you.   Posted: 03/06/2025 17:04:40

I love the colors and pattern in this flower! It is pretty sharp throughout so I would just crop in a bit as I prefer not to see so much of the background between the petals. Very nice job!   Posted: 03/06/2025 19:05:06
When I first looked at this image my eyes went right to the center even though a majority of the image is the Red and White pedals. The middle lines on the Red pedals also help to bring the eyes straight to the center. For this reason I would check the focus on the center of the image and I would crop in closer just a bit. This will bring out the contrast of the Green and Yellow colors in the center. I really like this image. There was just something I wanted more of. I couldn't put my finder on it so I brought it into Photoshop, cropped it, tried to sharpen the middle, brought up the blacks, and put a white vignette around the outer side for a not necessarily better, but a slightly different, view. I have attached the image.   Posted: 03/08/2025 11:30:09
The IPhone 15 camera is no slouch, but I agree with many of the comments made, and the redo done by Cheryl is a huge improvement, taking this from a snapshot to an artful image. The subject is the flower, and the wide crop leaves me wondering what you wanted as the subject. By bringing the crop in, the areas between the petals are eliminated and thecemphasis is squarely on the best part of the inage. This crop, along with the slight vignetting, makes your beautiful leading lines stand out better. I know not everyone likes white vignettes but it really worked in this. Now the image has strong initial impact.   Posted: 03/09/2025 23:21:43
Hi, the colors of the petals with the red and white patches are very nice, but I agree with all comments on the need for cropping and focusing on the core of the flower. I also like Cheryl's version.   Posted: 03/17/2025 10:58:33
lovely red - vibrant! I agree with the above for cropping in - the dark shadow gaps around the periphery were distracting. I also like the square crop that Cheryl did.   Posted: 03/22/2025 17:41:00
