Fall Calla by Margaret West

October 2024 - Fall Calla

About the Image(s)

This is my beautiful orange Calla when the flower is gone. I love the little spikes in lime green color and hte purple tint to the drying leaves.
I shot this with my Canon R5, Canon 100mm macro lens, outside, with Iso 200, f8 and 1/200. All comments welcome!

That's an interesting flower, one I've not seen before. The colour shades and textures are very pleasing.

I would crop a little off the left adge to take the subject away from the centre, I can see no benefit in it being central. Centrally placed subjects usually have less impact. also I'd darken the light areas at the 1-2 o'clock positions a little.   Posted: 10/07/2024 19:57:31

You've probably seen calla flowers. After the flower leaves this is what is left, totally different than the flower itself.
Thanks for your suggestions. I think they would enhance the photo   Posted: 10/08/2024 00:30:49

Hi Margaret, I had never seen this flower. It is so interesting I would crop it so that the focus is squarely on the flower.   Posted: 10/12/2024 21:10:37
