About the Image(s)
After fires, fireweed is the first to appear. This fire season may be one of the worst in decades as the snowpack is the lowest in decades and the drought is worsening. The coming summer is scary as we are already having July temperatures in March.

Lovely colors, textures and composition foreground to background, Leslie. The weather is certainly showing extreme patterns everywhere. Hoping you get some rain soon.   Posted: 04/03/2026 11:17:09
no rain here yet...waiting impatiently for April showers. I notice the photo looks overworked. Should have looked at it better before submitting.   Posted: 04/07/2026 16:25:03
I really like this image, Leslie. The contrast between the foreground color in the fireweed and the singed trees in the background tells a good story about the resilience of nature. It didn't strike me as overly processed at all. I do share your concerns about drought and what lies ahead this summer. March was exceptionally warm in California. At the last snow measurement of the season up near Echo summit, there was zero measurable snow, only the second time I remember that happening. Oddly enough, we're supposed to get a strong winter-like storm this weekend with heavy snow predicted for the crest of the Sierras. So don't give up yet on April showers. They're coming.   Posted: 04/08/2026 21:41:49
The image tells the story of these fireweed. You have the beautiful layers of flowers, trees and mountains making it a pleasing image. Maybe the light was a little harsh.
We here on the east coast are also experiencing drought conditions. We have had no significant rainfall in April so far.   Posted: 04/12/2026 21:56:16

But at least you have had some rain this year. I am surprised it is getting dry there too. I always think of the eastern part of the country as perpetually green.   Posted: 04/13/2026 00:09:13
What an impactful image and great example of nature's recovery. Detail, texture colors .....all magnificent! Could not ask for a better image of everyday miracles of nature!! Kudos!!!   Posted: 04/15/2026 20:52:37
