Hi Peter, My eyes immediately went to the intense gaze of the lion looking directly at the camera. I like the beautiful composition and the clean background in the photograph. The lion is sharp from front to back. Excellent!   Posted: 04/11/2025 17:58:51
Where you in a hide to get this photograph? It looks like you were on the ground, right opposite him. Truly a cool photo of an amazing animal.   Posted: 04/12/2025 19:44:26
On safaris the trucks are able to get right up to the wildlife. As long as one stays inside, the animals don't seem to have any fear. BUT, step outside and some, such as lions will see you as dinner.
This is a great catch with the reflection, etc. Colors good, focus great. One tiny nitpick...it is obvious for someone who has had the same issue, that you auto selected the lion and then changed the background somewhat because of the way the mane contacts the sky. Fur is difficult to get right.   Posted: 04/13/2025 15:06:52

A beautiful lion and intense gaze! Your description of him as an apex predator is spot on! I too am curious, were you in a hide? Getting him at ground level is difficult unless you have the convenience of a hide.
I also noticed the top edge of his mane....I might go back and try to blend it in a little bit more. You might even try using the original background, that might eliminate the problem.   Posted: 04/13/2025 18:57:12

That's a great shot of a majestic animal. The gaze says it all. The depth of field and angle is superb.   Posted: 04/18/2025 17:56:32
