About the Image(s)
My daughter and I shared the experience of a lifetime last May as we did a 2 day Gorilla trekking trip in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park. We were privileged to spend an hour watching a family of 18 interact. It was hard to choose which photo to share as I have many and the Silverback was very photogenic. But I love the eye contact of this female. She seemed to be the Silverback' s main love interest as they were always next to each other. I titled this photo Gorilla Queen.

Gorilla attitude in full display. She is the Queen indeed. My attention immediately goes to her eyes. You have handled the focus well, subject is sharp, is very well placed in the frame standing out from the background. Awesome!   Posted: 03/06/2025 15:42:44
Superb shot, Gwen. I agree with Sarita's comments. Also, the folded arms across the torso show a bit more attitude in the gesture department. She exudes self confidence.   Posted: 03/08/2025 15:20:33
How lucky are you to see a mountain gorilla. There aren't a lot left. She seems to me to be totally relaxed...not the least worried about a photographer being there. And what a face, you captured it well.   Posted: 03/09/2025 20:29:01
Contest winner!! Perfect show of expression. The stories she could tell.
You used a 24-70--how close were you to her?   Posted: 03/10/2025 16:15:36

Absolutely a fantastic image!!! That face.....just WOW!! And being able to share it with your daughter.....priceless. I agree the Queen attiude makes for a contest winner! Her posture of absolute comfort shows your respect for the animals and certainly shows off her Queen Status!   Posted: 03/11/2025 11:12:25
