About the Image(s)
Our local nesting grounds were beat up badly by the recent hurricanes, so although the birds are returning and trying to nest, the greenery is not so hospitable. I decided that this photo of a Great White Egret, who is in breeding plumage and colors, would look best in Black and White.
Nikon D500, 500PF, f/5.6, SS 2500, auto ISO. Taken at golden hour 5 pm.

These are so spectacular in color, but I love your B&W rendition and vignetting. Really focuses one's attention on the plumage.   Posted: 01/07/2025 20:53:00

Judy, I really like the black and white, and while the breeding colors on Florida birds enhance their beauty, the Great White Egret in breeding attire is mainly about their aigrette and the B&W shows the feathers off beautifully AND also diminishes the background nicely. Well done!!   Posted: 01/10/2025 19:05:53

The B&W effect brings more drama to an already dramatic Great Egret, especially in mating plumage. Well done!   Posted: 01/12/2025 23:37:44

Hi Judy, I agree with everyone's comments. My only suggestion would be to reduce the vignette so the tail feathers also stand out. But otherwise very beautiful!   Posted: 01/13/2025 22:06:05

I agree the vignette could indeed show off those tail feathers a little more....but depends on what is behind it which may be why you put int he vignette to begin with.   Posted: 01/15/2025 21:43:54
