About the Image(s)

Background: Image taken on one of the plazas of the Padre Pio sanctuary in San Giovanni Rotondo, Puglia, Italy. Padre Pio was named Saint in 2002 and the place is usually full of people. We visited the place with my wife, and I was lucky to see these kids enjoying the open space with no one around. I am posting the color image too, after some thoughts I think the monochrome is better because let the observer to focus more on the scenery.

Technical data Fujifilm GFX 100GFX, GF20-35mmF4 R WR @20mm, f/8, 1/100 sec, ISO 100. I think this image shows you can use medium format camera for street photography.

Post processing: the monochrome one was first converted in monochrome with Capture one. Then white and black adjusted for setting the dynamic range. This was followed by usual basic adjustments (highlights, shadows, contrast, clarity and structure) and some adjustment on specific color channels.

I love this image Michele and to my eye the B&W rendering is perfect. I think it's a great image, simple with strong composition and a certain starkness to it. I think that the kids playing really make the image.   Posted: 07/08/2024 22:20:44

Thank you Lou. These captured my attention few moments earlier and I was hoping something could happened. I wait a couple of minutes and they decided to split and run. I was lucky to be there at the right moment...

best
