I have attached my image for May. I took this image while wandering around in Essaouira, Morocco in October 2022. Camera Canon 5D lV, lens Tamron 28-300 at 85mm, f7.1, 1/800 sec, ISO 640. I made just a few adjustments in Lightroom, I cropped the image, lightened the overall image, especially the shadows.

Lou, this is technically a good image with perfect lighting. The heads of the group of people are photographed below the horizon of the ocean in the background, which is nicely composed. Personally, I prefer your original crop-perhaps you could crop a little from the left so the image follows the rule of thirds more closely? I think the boy's face is a bit too bright (it almost has a halo effect). The photo tells a story, but to be honest, I find it a bit "ordinary"-there's nothing particularly unique about the story it conveys.

Hi Michele, thanks for the comments. I certainly agree about the boy being too bright. I tried cropping from the left and to my eye it then seems like there is too much wall on the right. I tried cropping off a bit on the right and to me that seems better. I know the image is a cliche but I'm okay with that. Thanks again. Posted: 05/05/2025 23:06:09
