About the Image(s)
Back before Covid I did a two week long photo trip to Cuba with a small group of photographers. We spent about a week in Havana, which is where I took this photo. The place is a park called La Piragua, which translates to The Canoe, which I have no idea why it's called that. Anyhow it has some monuments there and a plaza that is lit up at night. That's where I saw a group of guys playing soccer. I shot this with a Canon 7D, Tamron 16-300mm lens at 52mm at ISO 6400, f5.6, 1/8 second. I did not do much post adjustments, mostly darkened the bright spots and brought up some of the shadows.

Sure a lot of action here. I'm not sure what the subject is.   Posted: 12/08/2024 18:34:06

I would say it is the guy with the red shirt and the ball since he is the most prominent and interesting.   Posted: 12/08/2024 20:35:36

Lou this is very nice image. The use of a relative slow shutter speed add some feeling of "action" to the image while is still clear what is going on. To me what is putting down the image is the car in the background that is very bright. My eye keep going to that car. Possible solutions to me are: cropping it out, clone it out, or trying to selectively tone it down by de saturating the blue selectively.
Best wishes of a great Holiday Season

Thanks for the comments Michele, I agree that the car is distracting.

Hi Lou, I love how this image captures the energy and movement of a nighttime soccer game in Havana's La Piragua park. The slow shutter speed adds a great sense of action, and the grainy texture from the high ISO gives it a raw, authentic feel. The player in the red-striped jersey naturally draws my eye. But I agree the bright car in the background feels a bit distracting. If it were my shot, I'd consider cropping or toning down those distractions to keep the focus on the players and really highlight the vibrant storytelling in the scene.   Posted: 12/10/2024 20:05:09

Thanks for the comments Keisha. I agree about the car, I really did not notice how much it distracts until it was pointed out to me. Thanks again.   Posted: 12/10/2024 22:17:03

It only stands out because it's lighter than your main subject. But overall you took a great photo.   Posted: 12/10/2024 22:23:13

Hi Lou,
This image certainly tells a story. I like the way you've captured the movement of the soccer players. The car in the background is a bit distracting (as others already commented) but the capture is a good one. Nice! To everyone - have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I hope the weather is good wherever you all are!   Posted: 12/15/2024 20:21:43
