Background: taken on the pier of Arcachon in the South west of France in a rainy and windy day.
Fuji GFX100s, Fujnon 45-100 mm f/4 at 54mm, f/13 1/80 sec, ISO 500
Converted to monochrome with Capture one. I provide also the color version but to me this is a black and white image.

Hi Michele, I think this is a beautiful image and I love the B&W version. To my eye the composition and lighting are really great. The wet deck certainly gives the feeling for the kind of day it was. Posted: 12/07/2024 23:43:54
Hi Lou, thank you for taking the time to look and comment on my image. I am happy you like it. It is one of those images we can take because by luck we are at the right spot at a right time. Few years ago in a day like that one I would not have being around with my camera...

I love the composition of this image, especially the strong leading lines from the pier and railings that guide my eye straight to the central figures. The symmetry of the lamp posts and the reflections on the wet wood really enhance the visual appeal, adding depth and a nice sense of rhythm. The black and white treatment works beautifully, bringing out the textures, reflections, and the moody feel of the overcast day. This is a great shot and you have captured the reflections on the wharf nicely. Loving the lamp posts. I like the black and white version - it looks like a scene from a movie with the couple at the back and the overcast day. Well done!
