This shot beautifully captures a heartfelt moment between mother and son. The original warm autumn tones create a cozy, inviting atmosphere, while the black-and-white edit shifts the focus to their connection, highlighting the mother's concentration and the child's curiosity. Both versions tell a unique story-one rooted in seasonal warmth, the other in the purity of their bond.   Posted: 11/05/2024 16:59:37

Chuck this is an image that definitively demonstrates connection between the child and the mother. I think the black and white is the version to go with this one. The very saturated yellow of the color version create a lot of distraction and the expression of the boy almost disappear. And to me that espression is what makes this image.

Hi Chuck, I think that this is a great image. I love the subject matter and the composition, I agree that it tells a very nice story. To my eye the boy kind of blends into the background. I think the exposure on him could be reduced a bit, especially the blacks. The B&W rendering is definitely the way to go with this image.   Posted: 11/11/2024 14:06:29

Thanks guys for the comments. I was trying to make the eye go straight to the kid. So, he was dodged a bit.

Hi Chuck,
It would be an interesting experiment to have black and white, but with the tartan tie and one green pine tree (looks Christmassy). I like the black and white version best. The dodging is noted. The story aspect is great.   Posted: 11/19/2024 23:29:09
