Cosby Creek by Barbara Eddy

July 2024 - Cosby Creek

About the Image(s)

I love rainy days, even when I have a lot to do outside. Rainy days are always a great day to process images. I hope you enjoy the beauty in this photo, taken this spring with workshop guests exploring the compositions of Crosby Creek.

I used a long exposure to capture the movement of the water. When photographing around streams, creeks, and waterfalls I use a polarizer to knock down glare on wet rocks and vegetation. The polarizer reveals color and details that otherwise would not be seen because of the shiny surfaces.

I hope you keep cool during the heat of the summer. If you find yourself inside, this may give you time to find treasures in your photo files.

Great shot. Love the water - it cools me (in Florida!)   Posted: 07/03/2024 21:30:28

Very nice composition and color coordination. Maybe a slight reduction in contrast or exposure to the background would be my only suggestion.   Posted: 07/05/2024 20:33:55

Thanks Ginny - I'll share if I have a chance to do this before heading to Alaska next weekend.   Posted: 07/06/2024 11:50:16

Hi Barbara. Your camera setting told me that you know precisely what you want to achieve. I really like the smooth silky water fall among sharp moss. I would likely apply a bit of desaturation and vignette to a non subject area.   Posted: 07/26/2024 02:58:06

Thanks, Frans,

I appreciate the suggestion of applying a bit of desaturation and vignette to the non-subject area. I will have to try this effect. Many thanks.   Posted: 07/30/2024 22:14:34
