About the Image(s)
I know that this is a wildlife discussion group, but I wanted to give some acknowledgement to the late great PhD Carl Sharsmith - one of the world's foremost alpine botanists, what he termed, "the little ones."
I took a trip to Joshua Tree National Park just as temps were climbing to shoot wildflowers. Had a great time and was happy that I went as the next week most of the wildflowers were toasted.
Taken with a Nikon Z8 with a 105mm macro lens at ground level. ISO 250. 105mm, F14 at 1/320 second using a tripod, shutter cable.

We are 'nature' doesn't need to be animals!
Spring in the desert is always glorious. Your depth of field is perfect - we have the flowers in focus but the background does not interfere. There are so many different blooms in one small space!
Your acknowledgement of Carl Sharsmith is notable. I know an Alpine garden in Switzerland that is one of my favorite places on earth.   Posted: 04/10/2026 10:18:05
