Watching For Lunch by Howard Frank

May 2025 - Watching For Lunch

About the Image(s)

This sparrow was calmly sitting in a tree watching the world go by. It is located in Chicago's famous magic hedge on the edge of Lake Michigan where several hundred species overnight on their way north. Taken with my Nikon Z8 and 600 PF lens at 1/3200 sec, f/ 6.3 and ISO 640. Processed with Lightroom and DXO Pure Raw 4.

Beautiful detail in the bird. I might add a very slight blur on the outer edges of the bird and tree to soften them against the blue sky. Did you replace the sky?   Posted: 05/09/2025 20:00:48

No Janet, my original image was a little dark and I brightened a bit in Lightroom, but I was lucky enough to get the bird with nothing behind it.
