About the Image(s)
Another image from the Oregon Woodpecker tour (I know, I need new photos and I will get them. Going to Merritt Wildlife later this month and the Space Coast Birding Festival in January!)
Canon 77D, 200 zoom w/2X extender
I love woodpeckers!

Ginny, I really like your photo of the flicker! The composition is great, with the bird looking over his shoulder. The only thing I suggest is to maybe darken up the white parts of the background. This might make the background a bit simpler and bring more attention to the bird. Great shot!   Posted: 12/10/2024 15:05:42

I love the bird, very sharp and attractive. It's also great that the eye is so clear.
I also think there are too many highlights. I played with it to change some things, which doesn't mean it's better.
Using On1 software I darkened the highlights, including the trunk. I lightened the bird a little and added a glow. I blurred the right side, and added a vignette. Finally I cropped some off the left to bring the bird more to the rule of thirds, and added some canvas on the top. It could probably use a little more on the top to make the eye a little further down in the picture.
This is my first time posting here so I hope this is the type of comment you were looking for.
