About the Image(s)

Another image of Bentonite Hills with a top-down look, as someone suggested; I removed the people as well.

I captured this image with my Mavic 2 Pro at ISO 200 and 1/30 second. I cropped the image in Lightroom and tweaked the exposure and saturation quite a bit; the original was quite washed out. I also used LR to remove the people.

Between looking at your original image and having recently flown/photographed there, my main comment is that the greens just aren't right. I recommend going into the HSL-Hue panel and moving them back to blues.

Composition is great and I like your crop.   Posted: 07/03/2026 19:59:06

Thanks for the comments Pete. I have a difficult time remembering what the colors actually looked like. I sort of like Drema's thoughts on the colors and it being an abstract. The question I guess is whether or not the image is to be an accurate depiction of the scene.   Posted: 07/08/2026 21:00:03

All this is of course a matter of personal taste but I think your colors s/b much closer to what I see in the original image.   Posted: 07/08/2026 21:07:42

I also agree about the colors, I think it is a little too saturated, even in the orange/browns. It gives it a softer look, so if you are going to stay with that much color, I would sharpen it up a little so the lines are better defined.

Removing the people has made it more abstract. If you didn't want a simple abstract, I would leave at least one of the people in the image... perhaps the one in black in the green area above the circular shape. He stands out quite well, and gives it scale.   Posted: 07/04/2026 20:55:13

Hi Drema, thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated. I like the idea of a pure abstract as most people have a difficult time comprehending that this is an actual place that looks anything like this.   Posted: 07/08/2026 21:03:39
