About the Image(s)
Just an overhead shot of our umbrella, nice dappled light so that you don’t see how dirty it is, lol. Haven’t had much time to get out and shoot, so backyard it is.

Hi Lisa. Since I also have not been flying lately, I appreciate your attempt to go out and get a picture to post. Even the backyard flights will give us practice. I should do the same (to keep my batteries in good condition and to keep my flying skills current). You inspire me to do so.
As far as this image, I like it. It kind of reminds me of the top-down image I posted of the Baha'i Temple last fall. When there is such symmetry, it is kind of fun to use the drone to capture such top-down images.
I do, however, like the colors of the dappled light in the original image. But I see that the green in the upper left and on the left side is a bit distracting. Perhaps you can do a vignette converted to B&W. But if you are going to stay with the B&W... I think there is a little too much mid-gray in the image. I'm not a B&W expert by far, but I think if you bring down the blacks a bit without increasing the highlights on the dappled lighting, it will provide a little more contrast and show more of the wonderful texture in the umbrella fabric.   Posted: 07/09/2025 19:08:16

Thanks Drema... I did like the color version too... maybe if I could get it surrounded by more bricks and less foliage   Posted: 07/28/2025 13:02:19
Hi Lisa, I think this is a very clever shot, it would have taken me a bit to have guessed what it is. I think B&W rendering is great, it makes it more mysterious. I like the shadows and the patterns of bricks.   Posted: 07/24/2025 21:22:08
thanks Lou, I should have moved the umbrella to the middle of the patio for more brick patterns all around   Posted: 07/28/2025 13:01:12
Hi Lisa, sorry I am so late in commenting.
This feels a little tight to me. And, yes, some of the shadows on the umbrella don't seem dark enough. Overall very creative and I like the image   Posted: 07/27/2025 20:26:11

Thanks Pete! Never late... even the last day of the month is good!
It is cropped tight... wanted to get rid of some of the bricks... will work on it more.   Posted: 07/28/2025 13:00:29
