About the Image(s)

The image was taken along Potash Road, in Utah, along the Colorado River.
I did a bit of color manipulation and sky enhancement.
I will try to submit the Potash pools next month.

I'm sorry, I tried to find something I like about this photo, but there isn't a lot I can say. The composition does not lead my eye in an interesting path through the picture, and the end result just looks overprocessed and false. For me, the sky replacement doesn't fit the scene very well and the sky reflection on the water doesn't match.

I think you could have gotten a good picture from this location if you had flown in closer to the river and rocks in the center right. I see a bit of a reflection there, and the river flowing through the hills might have made a good leading line. It probably would have needed to be taken at a time of day when there was better light though (An early-day or late-day shot when there was red in the sky to match the red rocks might have made a wow picture)   Posted: 03/09/2025 12:08:50

This depends on one's taste, but the post processing to my eye is overwrought. And I would have pulled back some so the island wasn't quite so close to the lower edge of the frame.

The road as a leading line (?)....this often works great but in this case it doesn't seem to lead anywhere   Posted: 03/11/2025 13:31:23

Hello Mike, I think that your original sky is more interesting and would great with a little processing. The road doesn't bother me but I find the imposing cliff on the left to be a bit much. Perhaps if you had pointed the camera to the right more then the image might seem more balanced.   Posted: 03/13/2025 16:47:59

Hi Mike, your photo bring backs the memory of driving a jeep from Potash to Shafer and into Canyonlands, was quite the adventure. At that time I didn't have a drone but I did get some great shots with dslr. Your photo does show the rock face vertical walls and the Colorado Riv. But it doesn't represent what I recollect of the area topography. The rock tones are too red and the exposure looks off. I like the cloud orientation in the replacement sky.   Posted: 03/25/2025 01:17:22

Thanks for the comments, Now that I read them, I see your point. Correct "over saturated".
Also correct a crop of the island will have improved along with de-saturation will help a lot. BY the way the sky was not replaced, but heavy workout, plus added rays.   Posted: 03/26/2025 18:11:13
