Stonehenge, USA by Mike Fernandez

January 2025 - Stonehenge, USA

About the Image(s)

This image was taken this spring in Ingram, Texas. It is an attempt to replicate Stonehenge in England. It is about 65% of the one in the UK. The image was only cropped a bit and a bit of saturation.

I like it a lot! Great subject! I was baffled when I first looked at it, wondering how Stonehenge could look like it was restored! :)

If you have the editing ability, I would suggest darkening the orange area in the upper right corner. You also might want to desaturate the orange in the grass below that corner. It draws the eye away from the subject.

Also, the composition is good, but I would like to see a tiny bit more at the bottom. The stones feel a little too close to the edge of the picture. If you cropped that up to there, I would not have cropped it quite that much. I like the crop at the top that shows the trees, but I would like a little more breathing room at the bottom.

Otherwise, good job!   Posted: 01/11/2025 00:16:08

Hi Mike, I read Drema's comments and there is not much more I can add. I think it is a great image and I like the viewing angle, I get a good perspective. I did not know that we had a Stonehenge replica, it sounds like a good stop on a road trip.   Posted: 01/16/2025 17:25:33

Hey Mike, Stonehenge in Texas, who would have thought! I like the shot, very interesting subject. I'm trying to picture in my mind what the scene would look like if you had shot it rotated about 90 deg cc, so the camera would be facing head-on the large dark slab and the five upright structure where seen in a more symmetrical arrangement.   Posted: 01/17/2025 00:34:29
