Water Wheel Farm by Richard Stauber

November 2024 - Water Wheel Farm

About the Image(s)

This month's photo tells a story but you almost must know the story before seeing the photo! The image was shot in Northwest New Jersey where not too long ago there were many dairy farms. As the profitability of farming changed, many dairy farms were sold and converted to horse farms. This is one such farm, Water Wheel Farm in Fredon, NJ. Processing was done with Affinity Photo.

Hello Richard, I love the image and I'm interested in traveling to that part of the country, New Jersey is under appreciated. I really like the exposure and the bright colors and the subject is great. I do find the dark pond in the foreground to be quite distracting from the overall image. Perhaps some cropping would improve the composition.   Posted: 11/07/2024 16:20:56

Lou, thanks for your comments. NJ has it's plus and minuses but for a large part of the state very nice. I was wondering about that pond, I did crop some of it already. Let me know if you do plan a trip, I'll have some suggestion.   Posted: 11/08/2024 01:55:25

A very pleasing image shot at a nice time of day.

I'm good with the pond

Perhaps a bit over saturated especially the ponds in right back of the image.   Posted: 11/11/2024 00:41:16

Thank you, I agree the ponds in the back are little too blue.   Posted: 11/12/2024 01:02:19

Hi Richird,
I agree about getting rid of the lake infront also a bit blue. I would crop just below the farm losing the road everything starts at the barn. Great colors and subject. Keep it up.   Posted: 11/15/2024 21:52:23

Ah!!!! Blue ponds, red barn, fall foliage, no need to ask for more. I would have like to see the saturation turn down a tiny, tiny bit. Too bad I was not there.   Posted: 11/28/2024 23:10:47

I agree, too much on the saturation. Thanks Mike.   Posted: 11/30/2024 00:42:31
