About the Image(s)
This "Red Dahlia" was taken at a dahlia show inside at our local
nursery. I used a piece of black board behind it when photographing.
ISO 1000, 60mm, f8, 1/125sec. It is focus stacked in my Om-1 Olympus
camera. A little bit of clean up and using LR for a mask to complete
the black background.

Hi Lauren, Brilliant! The dahlia looks like a beautifully lit sculpture. Good focus stacking in this very clean looking image. Karl.   Posted: 09/10/2023 15:17:00

Lauren - masterly done in my opinion, I particularly like the strips of white on some to the edges. The shape reminds me a child's hair on a happy day.
I think this is a wonderful image and the color is striking, screaming for one of those competitions where "red" is the theme. That said, I do think there is texture in the petals that B&W might well exploit.   Posted: 09/14/2023 11:53:52

Gerard, I will wear my red hat and keep it red. Yes, there is more texture in the B &W, but this dahlia has style, and it is blazing RED.   Posted: 09/14/2023 15:34:40

The red has it, especially mounted on the green stalk. This is a gorgeous winner!   Posted: 09/18/2023 20:03:19
Spectacular! The Dahlia explodes from the background. The focus stack is perfect. A sure winner. I also love Gerard's B&W version. The textures are indeed wonderful.   Posted: 09/18/2023 20:08:17
