About the Image(s)
I have been enjoying the slow arrival of Spring. On a recent cloudy day I spied buds on the verbena bush in the back yard. I set out to create a painterly image of the buds against blurry leaves and a cloudy sky. I used a hand-held Canon R5 set to aperture priority f/8, auto ISO (8000), 1/640sec (set by camera). I imported the image into LightRoom Classic, cropped, made some tone and presence adjustments, and manually denoised.

Hi Judith, Let's examine intent. If it's to accurately show the Verbena buds, the image is partially successful. There is good detail and shading in the flower head. Consider moving about 80 degrees to the left which would have the leaves framing the flower head like up reaching hands. The background would be different. Even, overcast lighting saves this image from a blown out background. Karl   Posted: 04/12/2025 21:14:03
That's a lovely Verbena bush. Have you thought about using a tripod with a slower shutter speed and lower ISO? Adjusting the aperture to a smaller setting could maybe bring more of the bush into focus?   Posted: 04/13/2025 17:00:38
The Verbena bush is beautifully isolated against the white background. The overall effect is very soothing.   Posted: 04/16/2025 16:38:59
