About the Image(s)

This image was taken at a recent dress rehearsal of Dance Kaleidoscope, the piece Fever Dream was choreographed by Sean Aaron Carmon who was formerly a dancer with Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.

The image was taken with a Nikon 750. 1/250 sec, ISO 5,000 f 3.5. It was edited in Lightroom Classic. It was a dramatic and intense work, and I wanted to heighten the drama even further and give the impression that the female dancer was flying through the air, propelled by her ardent partner.

Freddie, I thought it was a mermaid rescuing a mere mortal who is hanging on. I think the enhanced blue led me to that conclusion. Love that you rotated it because that makes it more interesting and puzzling. Nice crop.   Posted: 02/04/2025 19:37:38

Very creative. Particularly interesting is the direction of the light - under the fliers. The light and colors work well. The overall effect is that of a dreamscape.

Hi Freddie, I find stage lighting problematic to deal with. This interpretation comes on a bit harsh in color contrast and loss of shadow detail. However, you remedied a dancer's greatest limitation, GRAVITY, by rotating the image. The female dancer really appears to be flying with the male as the propulsive force. Great interpretation. Thanks! Rotating dance photos can be really fun ( but usually doesn't "work!)   Posted: 02/22/2025 03:51:42
