About the Image(s)
Happy Holidays! This fall I photographed
these ducks on a very still pond. I thought the results were almost like an abstract painting. ISO 100, 600mm, f18, 0.5 sec.

Hi Lauren, What a great scene. It could be cropped several ways. As-is is OK but a bit busy. Cropping out just the visually confusing section at lower right would help simplify the picture. Cropping just to the left log and ducks would be the simplest option. Color and symmetry are excellent. Karl   Posted: 12/13/2024 15:32:00

Thanks Karl, I realized after posting that the lower right has a reflection of a duck on the top that isn't in the photo. Goodbye, duck. Happy Holidays!

I like this abstract. Because the birds face different directions, they each have a display a different color, even though they are all similarly colored. Some look nearly spherical due to their positions and the angle at which you photographed them. The overall effect suggests that the viewer is looking at a multicolored collection of holiday ornaments displayed in a most unusual setting.   Posted: 12/15/2024 21:30:38

Lauren, I agree with Karl on the cropping, though I would likely use the eraser tool to remove the extra duck if possible. At first glance I thought this was the backside of a decoration on a mirror base because the reflections are so crisp. I like the colors in the background / water.   Posted: 12/19/2024 06:33:40

I'm a sucker for reflections, as you know, and this one is gorgeous!
The only suggestion I can think of is to crop the bottom part of the image below the base of the log, because it complicates the overall effect.   Posted: 12/20/2024 17:35:34
