The Pumpkin Patch by Mariann Moberg

November 2024 - The Pumpkin Patch

About the Image(s)

This image was taken at the same farm as the image I presented with the tractor. Different day. I did not include a before image as it was basically the same as what you see here. Hardly any post processing was used.
What drew me into the image was the sky lighting that had beautiful color and softness to it. The top of the green house was covered in a plastic that allowed the image to take on a different effect.

This was taken with my Canon R6 with a 24mm lens at 1/200 sec F/7.1 ISO 100
It was hand held and I added a UV filter

Great autumn colors and theme. The overall symmetry and its interruption by the few pumpkins on the path are pleasing, but could be stronger were the camera in the center of the path. The parallel and vanishing rows of pumpkins form leading lines that draw the eyes to the opening at the end, and give depth to the composition. Had it been possible, I would have walked in and avoided the shadowed area.   Posted: 11/09/2024 21:33:04

As a follow up to Judith's comment, and as a suggestion, I played with your image using a combination of Generative fill and image resizing, I created a bit more depth. Because the leading lines did not point to anything I added a little girl. (Hope that the girl will not be in shock at being taken from a parade to a pumpkin patch.) I was too lazy to correct the distorted pumpkins.   Posted: 11/12/2024 21:34:45

I like the distraction of the pumpkin in the path of light; maybe cropping in would help get rid of the shadow. Peter, that little girl is screaming to get back in her parade, she is adding to your baboon photo...those pumpkins now are the size of the girl and look alien to me.   Posted: 11/19/2024 20:49:46
